Nam Ou Café & Kayaks Restaurant & Music Bar was started in February 2022 by Xangnoi and Geoff, in the midst of the Covid pandemic. On the edge of the Nam Ou lake it has thrived ever since serving cold beer Lao, along with delicious Lao food, dished up by Xang’s wife Noi, and often has live music in the evenings.

It’s about 40 kms north of Luang Prabang on the banks of the Nam Ou lake formed by the new hydro dam.
You can spend the night there camping on the edge of the lake and watch the moon or sunrise from your tent, or go for a kayak, swim in the lake, or catch a fish.
It’s very popular with motorcyclists and tourists for a coffee, food or a bathroom stop, if you are travelling to Nong Khiaw or further North up Route 13.
